Coco Steel & Lovebomb started as a concept group created by Chris Coco in the early 90s. According to the band's own Bandcamp notes, their first single, Feel It, came out of his resident DJ slots at the Coco Club at the Zap in Brighton, which ran from 1989 to 1994, and was a big hit there. Discogs lists the line-up as Chris Coco (Coco), Lene Stokes (Steel) and Craig Woodrow (Lovebomb).

The first life: Warp and Other

The group made the album It! for Warp Records, released in 1994 according to Discogs, along with Warp 12-inches including You Can't Stop The Groove, Set Me Free! and Summer Rain. Two albums of what the band calls "experimental sampled electronica" followed on A Man Called Adam's Other Records. Discogs lists them as New World (1997) and Sun Set (1998), followed by Remixed in 1999. Those records included Yachts, which the release notes say has recently gone viral on Instagram in Mexico. In 2014 came a CD, The Chillout Album, and then the name went quiet.

The return: six records on Disappear

The band came back on Chris Coco's label Disappear in December 2023. Newest first, here is everything on cocosteelandlovebomb.bandcamp.com:

  • Echoes In My Mind / Mama Sol (out 1 November 2026). Vinyl only: a 12-inch black vinyl edition of 30 in a generic white sleeve. The digital pre-order is two-minute clips only. The A-side is "a deep 120bpm dream house number with a nod to the sound of Ethos Mama Club". The B-side is "a 106bpm afro / dub / cosmic groove with love to Baldelli's Cosmic style". The vinyl includes a DJ Rocca Italo Mix of Echoes In My Mind. Vocals on both tracks are by Louis Vann Johnson, and the record was mastered by Eugene at CromonTor.
  • ACIDIRIE (24 June 2026). Suddi Raval, the brains behind 90s act Together, plays the 303 line. Production and mix down are by Chris Coco. Mr Scruff's feedback, quoted on the page: "This is quite a slinky tickler."
  • E1 AC1D0 (27 March 2026). A 110bpm "acid chugger". S/A/M of Cafe Del Mar and The Apartment, Ibiza, is quoted on the page: "The Incredible Bongo Band gets thrown into a bathtub of acid!"
  • Precious Cargo (5 December 2025). Acid house with Juno 106 pads and a repeated vocal by Sylvia Palms. It is backed by Just The A, a stripped-down 303 version.
  • Im Garten (9 May 2024). A slo-mo, bass-heavy tribal groove inspired by a trip to Berghain.
  • Kino (1 December 2023). "A slow-burn deep tech number that will work in a dirty basement at 4am or at a beach party around sunrise."

The 2023 and 2024 tracks were announced as part of a planned album called After Hours. Each comes as a short "Trailer" edit for streaming and a longer version for clubs.
