Turn on, stay in, chill out

The Chill Out Tent started in April 2020 as a lockdown project: a series of live-streamed events from an imagined chill out space in a virtual festival. Then it became an actual tent at a real festival in a field. It invited friends to play lazy afternoons in bars and pubs, released compilations, and added Apple Music mixes, Mixcloud radio shows and Spotify playlists.

Chris Coco is its co-founder, host and in-tent producer, alongside co-founder Stevie M. The tent's own Mixes page calls him “The Chill Out Tent Godfather”.

Streams and events have featured Mr Scruff, Rob Da Bank, Danielle Moore from Crazy P, Daniele Baldelli and Julia Tupinamba. There has been a film premiere, Born Balearic: Jon Sa Trinxa and the spirit of Ibiza, and interviews with Maxi Jazz, Norman Jay and Richard Norris.

At We Are Love festival in Sussex the day builds from morning yoga and gong through ambience, soul, reggae, live music and Balearic sunsets to a party by night. Talks have included author Irvine Welsh, and the bar is always open.
